Terço de pérolas de água doce com medalhas das quatro basílicas papais

FRESHWATER PEARL ROSARY WITH MEDALS OF THE FOUR PAPAL BASILICAS
This freshwater pearl rosary combines delicate peach-pink tones with important references to Catholic tradition and Rome. The Alpacca metal chain holds slightly irregular pearls with soft pearlescent reflections, while the Our Father beads are represented by medals dedicated to the four Papal Basilicas. The centerpiece featuring Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and the richly decorated crucifix complete a rosary with a strong devotional character.
⠀
ORIGIN OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL DEVOTION
The devotion to the Miraculous Medal began in Paris in 1830, in the chapel on Rue du Bac, following the apparitions of the Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré. According to Catholic tradition, Mary showed the religious sister the design of the medal and asked that it be made and distributed. Over time, the medal became known as the “Miraculous Medal” because of the many graces, conversions, and accounts of protection attributed by the faithful to the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
⠀
ICONOGRAPHY OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL
The centerpiece depicts the Virgin Mary according to the traditional iconography of the Miraculous Medal. Mary is shown standing with her arms open and her hands directed downward, a gesture associated with the graces bestowed through her intercession. The reverse traditionally features the letter M joined to the Cross, the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and stars surrounding the composition.
⠀
MEANING AND INTENTIONS OF THE DEVOTION
In Catholic tradition, the Miraculous Medal is a sign of entrustment to the maternal protection of the Virgin Mary. It is often associated with prayers for graces, comfort in difficult moments, protection of the family and home, travel, and periods of spiritual vulnerability. This rosary brings together that Marian devotion with prayer and a reminder of some of the most important places of Catholic faith in Rome.

The centerpiece features Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. The crucifix has a geometric structure with dark ornamental details, the INRI inscription, a raised Corpus of Christ, and a radiant motif behind Jesus’ head.
